Advanced/Professional Modern Technique (For Experienced dancers)Beginning/Intermediate Modern TechniqueIntermediate/Advanced Contemporary Jazz Creative Movement for Children Expressive Movement for Autistic/Differently-Abled Advanced/Professional Modern Technique (For Experienced dancers) A unique, contemporary modern technique class combining many training styles into an organic movement style rooted in the power of the body to communicate. A vigorous and detailed class exploring all aspects of the body’s movement potential. Focus is on the act of motion from the inside out. Breath work, energy dynamics, physics, release, moving in and out of the floor, athletic, physical dance inspired by studies in Dunham, Hawkins, Limon, contact improvisation, martial arts and other release forms. Thorough warm-up, moving on to floor work, standing center work and traveling movement. Occasional partner work and improvisational explorations. Dancers are encouraged to explore phrases in their own unique way and should work at their own level of comfort, challenging themselves to go outside the box if they choose.{back to top} Beginning/Intermediate Modern Technique (Teen-Adult, No experience necessary) For beginning movers seeking a free-flowing, relaxed kinesthetic expression style. Travel with gravity and the principles of physics to move within the your own body’s abilities. This class introduces modern dance/movement techniques and includes a thorough warm-up, stretching, free swinging limbs, moving in and out of the floor and through all planes of space with grace and ease through the least path of resistance.{back to top} Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary Jazz (teen-adult, some experience required) Instructor Sabrina Rodrigues hails from Paris, France where she was a lead dancer at the famous Crazy Horse. She has appeared with Cirque de Soleil and is a featured dancer in the La Femme show at the MGM Grand Hotel here in Las Vegas. In this class, Sabrina would like to share the European style of dancing created from a mix of jazz and contemporary techniques, precision and movement releases. The class will focus on the speed, jerky moves and European jazz techniques, concentrating on use of space by creating moves in a released way. Attention will also be paid to improvisation without music by using word subjects. Beginning with a full warm up from head to toe, followed by diagonal exercises of body language and spending the last part of class working on a different choreographic routine. The main goal in this class is to have fun, make you feel happy and comfortable with your body, and express what you have deep inside of you. The goal is to achieve the biggest smile of your day.{back to top} Beginning/Intermediate Jazz (teen-adult, no experience necessary)) Creative Movement for Children (Children 6-12 yrs) Creative Movement is a way for children to know and understand themselves and see connections with the rest of the world. Itr enhances, sensory and body awareness, social skills, language/cognitive development, concentration, and health and fitness. It also teaches self-esteem, sense of purpose, respect of others, and classroom etiquette. This class emphasizes breathing, stretching, full articulation of muscles and joints, and expansive use of space. Guidance is provided to develop a sense of rhythm, momentum, gravity and weight, dynamics, shared space and learning to move safely, clearly, freely, and with intention and feeling. Composition is a creative component of the program. Student are encouraged to develop their movement through the use of imagery, improvisation and shared creation. Students will value the experience of enjoying their own physicality for its’ own sake and sharing the joy with others through performance with one another and for the occasional audience.{back to top} Pilates Mat (no experience necessary) Pilates mat work is the foundation of the Pilates system, the route of every other exercise in the system. Mat work embodies flow and promotes cardiovascular endurance, ,builds strength and creates long, lean muscles and a strong core. Exercises are performed on the floor, wit hone flowing to the next promoting body awareness and neuromuscular re-education.{back to top} Expressive Movement for Autistic/Differently-Abled (Private Sessions) A specially designed combination of movements and exercises to stimulate and facilitate brain hemisphere communication and body awareness/coordination within a flexible structure which helps to teach social skills and self control but also provides time for free, creative expression. Careful thought is given to types of music played and specific props are used to stimulate and facilitate specific types of movement.{back to top}
